Margaret Ann Salazar, beloved wife, stepmother, grammy, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away at age 62 on November 11, 2021 in Renton, WA.
Margaret was born on April 15, 1959 in California to Chuck and Peg Abernethy. A fun and spirited girl, she grew to be a talented seamstress who loved a trip to Joann Fabrics to look for new treasures, had a passion for puzzles, reading, and shopping vintage stores for beautiful editions of classic books. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, and she looked forward to trips to the Victorian Christmas Festival every year.
Margaret possessed a wonderful outlook on life, and had a wicked sense of humor, once teasing her husband Natividad when she was mad, “I’m mad, I’m really mad. But there’s something about your face that makes me laugh.”
She loved coming up with fun crafts for her grandchildren when they spent the night, spoiling her family, watching holiday movies with her husband year-round, and spending time with friends.
Margaret is preceded in death by her father, Charles Abernethy, brothers: Tim Abernethy, Sr. and Chris Abernethy, grandparents: Eugene and JoAnn Abernethy, and grandparents: Ray and Margaret Matheson. She is survived by her husband, Natividad, mother, Peg, sister, Lyn, brothers, Brian, Dave, and Phil, her five stepchildren, six grandchildren, and 16 nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held February 18, 2022 at 3:30 at United Christian Church in Renton. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary.
