Marie Jeanette (Karp) White
Marie Jeanette (Karp) White, age 93 of Kent, left this world on July 18, 2016, with peace in her heart and her loving companion Joachim (Joe) Schneider at her side.
Born June 4, 1923, to Harry and Neva (Thomas) Karp in Leavenworth, Washington, Marie was beloved by her family, her friends, and all who were graced with her sparkling eyes and angelic smile.
She was one of the pioneering women who worked at the Boeing factory manufacturing airplanes during World War II. Always a trailblazer, Marie received her Associate of Arts degree at a time when post-secondary education was uncommon for women and she excelled in her chosen professional career as an optician for many years. Marie lived life to the fullest enjoying camping, fishing, bowling, golf – hitting a hole-in- one on her 80 th birthday – and long walks to commune with nature and her Heavenly Father. She was a crossword puzzle aficionado and found joy playing cards, Scrabble, and UpWords with family and friends. Marie was an active volunteer with the Kent Historical Museum and the thrift store and many outreach ministries at her longtime parish home of St. James Episcopal Church in Kent.
Marie is survived by her daughter and son-in- law Ann and Jerry Krisik of Amery, Wisconsin, granddaughters Cathy Krisik of Stillwater, Minnesota, Lynn (Paul) Schwartz of Menomonie, Wisconsin, and their children Xavier, Margaret, Marie, Liam, and Patrick, and grandson Andy Krisik of St. Paul, Minnesota, nieces Robin Karp, Janelle (Karp) Clark, Neva (Karp) Hilfiker, and nephew Ron Karp. She also is survived by Joe Schneider and his family Joe Schneider and Jolene Vrchota, and Paul and Jamie Schneider and their children Corinne (Christopher) Jones, and Cameron (Kristin) Schneider. Marie joins her husband of 49 years, Robert (Bob) White, son Michael White, parents Harry and Neva Karp, brothers Bill, Harry (Hy), and Arthur (Artie), niece Lollie Karp, and nephews Raleigh and Dennis Karp, in their heavenly home.
Celebration of Life will be held at 11 am on Saturday, July 30, at St. James Episcopal Church, 24447 – 94 th Avenue South, Kent. Memorials preferred to Family Renewal Shelter, 6832 Pacific Avenue, Tacoma (www.domesticviolencehelp.org).
