Nellie May Joiner
Nellie May Joiner passed away peacefully on June 29, 2010. She was born to Leota Pearl Tucker and Charles Tucker on July 14, 1914 in Linnton, Oregon. Nellie was preceded in death by her first husband of three years, Jim Ingram (Browning, MT). Together they gave birth to Barbara Lou Shaffer (Bob Kreiling, Safford, AZ). She was also preceded in death by her second husband of forty-eight years, Charles Elliott Joiner (Renton, WA) and together they gave birth to five children, Shirley May Stoltz (Burt, Shelton, WA), Leota Marie Gregory (John, Shelton, WA), Nellie Jean Bjornson (Bob, Shelton, WA), Charles Robert Joiner (Diana, Auburn, WA) and Alvin Wayne Joiner (Shirley, Renton, WA) and preceded in death by her brother Curtis Tucker (Medical Lake, WA), and grandson Jeffrey Wayne Joiner (Renton, WA). Nellie is survived by her brother David Brown (Harriett, Portland, OR), her sister, Viola Jean Anderson, (Portland, OR), her six children and spouses, 18 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren (one more on the way), 7 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous friends and acquaintances from where she lived, worked, and played. Nellie treasured her family as it blossomed into six new families and her treasure chest began to grow. The chest is now filled and flowing over with loving family, as she witnessed her dream come true. She also completed a successful working career that partially included the Boeing Company and 19 years of driving school bus for the Kent School District. Following retirement, Nellie continued working at Cascade Lanes in Renton, WA for over 10 years supervising the child care facility. A celebration of Nellie’s life will be held at the Marlatt Funeral Home, 713 Central Ave. N., Kent, WA on July 10, 2010 at 9:30 a.m.Graveside service will follow at Hillcrest Burial Park (Scenic Hill, Kent WA). In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Red Cross or Salvation Army.
