William Carleton
William (Bill) Carleton, beloved husband of Patricia and adored father of David, Bill, Bruce and Anne, passed away on February 19, 2013 at the age of 92 years. Bill left this world as a loving servant of God after a long and productive life. Along with his four children, Bill will be greatly missed by his sister Margaret Albinson as well as grandchildren Ben, Daniel, Sam, Jack, Cole, Morgan, Max, Emma, extended family and many friends.He studied civil engineering at the University of Washington, soon interrupted by WWII where he enlisted in the US Navy to be a pilot in the Air Corps. He then continued his studies at the University of Pennsylvania where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history. Then came graduate school at the Princeton Seminary where he earned a Master’s of Divinity degree. His love of God and for all humanity lead him to start his career as an ordained Presbyterian minister. He served the congregation at the Kent First Presbyterian Church (Kent, WA) for 35 years as their pastor. He shared a love of his family and flock, shepherding them lovingly and with true warmth of spirit.Military funeral honors will be held at the Tahoma National Cemetery (18600 SE 240th Street, Kent) on Thursday March 14, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Kent First Presbyterian Church. If friends so desire, memorial tributes can be made directly to the Kent First Presbyterian Church, 9425 S. 248th Street, Kent, WA 98030 (Phone 253-852-3370).
