On Sept. 2, Roni Strupat wrote in stating that Dave Reichert does “right” and supports Zika funding. Unfortunately, the writer fails to mention that the bill that Reichert supports contains many other provisions stuffed into the bill by House Republicans that have nothing to do with Zika funding.
They are trying to weaken the restrictions on pesticide use in the environment, make it more difficult for women to obtain contraception and reduce funding to Planned Parenthood and other programs.
It is not a good thing that Reichert supports this bill. It is a Trojan Horse built by Republicans to push their policies and agenda. House Republicans need to put up a clean bill that addresses Zika prevention funding that we can pass.
