The second-ranked Kentwood boys basketball team took care of business last Thursday, knocking off Kentlake 68-48 in the final South Puget Sound League North regular-season game for both teams.
The win, coupled with Federal Way’s 103-48 throttling of Tahoma the following night, forged a two-way tie atop the North between the Conquerors and Eagles.
Kentwood (14-2, 16-4) and top-ranked Federal Way (14-2, 18-2) will settle the tiebreaker at 8 p.m. on Tuesday night at Auburn High.
The winner of that game will take the North’s top seed to the West Central District III tournament and will play Decatur at 8 p.m. on Saturday at Auburn High. The loser will take the North Division’s No. 2 seed and play Curtis (13-3, 17-4) for the No. 3 seed to the district tournament, which begins next week.
Joshua Smith helped the Conquerors seal the tie for the North’s top spot, scoring a team-high 26 points. Tre Tyler and Alec Wilson each scored nine points in the win.
Daniel Landram led the Falcons with 11.
