PLAYOFF PICTURE: Unlike baseball and fastpitch, only the top four teams in soccer advance to the postseason. With four teams currently stuck on five wins as of Thursday, April 16, the race to the finish is sure to be tight-fisted. While Kentridge has an early edge on a playoff berth, the top six teams can’t be counted out, all the way down to No. 6 Kentlake, which is just three points — or one win — away from fifth-place Kentwood.
PIVOTAL UPCOMING GAMES: At 7:30 p.m. on April 21 at French Field, Kentridge will play host to Kentwood. Kentridge’s Scott Geffre scored in the 67th minute on March 24, helping the Chargers turn back the Conquerors 3-2 in an early-season meeting. Kentridge needs this win to remain on top of the standings while Kentwood needs the victory so it can avoid falling into the mess that could become a battle for the fourth-and-final playoff berth. Also on Tuesday, April 21 at 5:30, Kentlake will host Auburn at French Field. Kentlake can’t afford a loss here if it plans on nabbing one of the playoff berths.
