Kentridge, behind seven runners finishing 154th or better, took 14th in the team chase at the Class 4A state cross country championship race at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco on Saturday.
Camas’ Yacine Guermali won the 3.1-mile race in 15 minutes, 12.8 seconds. Bellarmine Prep captured the team title.
Kentridge’s Wobi Torujo led the way for Kentridge, finishing 47th in 16:32.6, followed by teammates Fanuel Weldeselassie (79th, 16:49.3), Maamoon Saleh (115th, 17:13.5); Isaiah Eller (130th, 17:29.7), Steven Kassebaum (149th, 17:51.0), Brock O’Neal (150th, 17:52.7) and Nathan Shine (154th, 18:00.3).
Kentwood senior Harsimran Singh was 45th (16:31.2).
For the girls, Lake Stevens’ Taylor Roe paced the field (17:34.1). Issaquah claimed the team championship.
Kentwood’s Nicole Soleim was 40th (19:35.3).
For Kent-Meridian, senior Olivia Baerny was 48th (19:43.7) and her sister Allison, a sophomore, was 62nd (19:54.7).
