Kentridge shortstop Stetson Olson tore up the South Puget Sound League North Division on the baseball diamond last season.
Now, the KR senior hopes to do the same on the Pac-10.
On Monday, Stetson signed an official letter-of-intent to play next year at Washington State University. The 6-foot, 205-pound 17 year delivered a sweltering .462 batting average with 18 runs scored, three doubles, two home runs and 27 runs batted in last spring.
“I was offered a scholarship in the third week of July and I kind of see them as being a team on the rise,” said Olson, who was recruited as a first and third baseman. “I think I can help this team improve and eventually climb to the top.”
Olson was joined on Monday by Kentridge golfers Lauren Sewell and Sean McMullen. Sewell, one of the state’s elite golfers, signed on with Oregon State University. McMullen, who will compete at the state tournament in the spring, signed a letter-of-intent to play at Seattle University.
Sewell is coming off her second-straight district title. McMullen took fourth at the district tournament.
All three of the Kentridge standouts have some unfinished business.
For Olson, that means helping the Chargers return to the postseason.
“This is my third year on (varsity) and we’ve yet to make the playoff,” said Olson, who sports a 3.668 grade-point average and anticipates studying sports medicine in college. “That’s my biggest goal. It’s not about me, it’s about the team. We have the talent, we have the pitching, we have the hitting. I want to see this team make a run for the SPSL North title.”
