The Seattle Thunderbirds have named center Scott Eansor team captain for the 2015-16 season.
“It’s an honor to be named the captain of such a special organization,” Eansor said. “There are so many good leaders in the room and I feel fortunate to have a chance to lead this team.”
The T-Birds named right wing Keegan Kolesar, left wing Cavin Leth and defensemen Ethan Bear and Turner Ottenbreit alternate captains.
“We have a very strong leadership group this season,” said T-Birds head coach Steve Konowalchuk. “Our four alternate captains will rotate through games this season. As well as our four alternate captains, we have several other guys that will be in our leadership group who will be relied upon just as much as our captain and alternate captains.”
Eansor is the 33rd team captain in team history. Jerret Smith was the team captain in the 2015-16 season.
The T-Birds open the Western Hockey League regular season on the road against the Portland Winterhawks on Saturday. Face-off is 7 p.m. at the Moda Center. The T-Birds’ home opener is Saturday, Oct. 1, at 7:05 p.m. against the Winterhawks at the ShoWare Center.
