Eight Seattle Thunderbirds players are scheduled to participate in the 2010 Rob Sumner Hockey Camp at ShoWare Center in Kent from Aug. 16-22.

The players scheduled to be at the camp are goalie Calvin Pickard, defensemen Brenden Dillon and Dave Sutter and forwards Luke Lockhart, Brendan Rouse, Brenden Silvester, Tyler Alos and Marcel Noebels.

Noebels, from Germany, and Sutter, from Switzerland, were both recently selected by the T-Birds in the first round of the 2010 CHL Import Draft. Noebels was taken 10th overall and Sutter was taken 34th overall.

The 2010 Rob Sumner Hockey Camp will take place at ShoWare Center, home of the Seattle Thunderbirds. Participants will use the T-Birds locker room and WHL dressing rooms throughout camp, as well as the Thunderbirds Training Facility for all dry land instruction.

The 2010 Rob Sumner Hockey Camp will consist of five groups. There are three youth groups: Group A for 6-, 7- and 8-year-olds, Group B for 9- and 10-year-olds and Group C for 11- and 12 year-olds. The youth groups take place in the morning and afternoon from Monday through Friday.

There is an Adult group which will take place in the evening at ShoWare Center from Monday through Friday.

New this year, Sumner has added a Junior/Midget Prep group which will be geared towards 15- to 18-year-old players preparing for their upcoming midget or junior season. This group takes places Monday through Sunday at ShoWare Center. This camp will be difficult and challenging and will focus on conditioning and pace.

This year’s staff will be working with all groups, both on and off the ice. Each player will have the chance to meet the various Thunderbird players, coaches and training staff while providing top-level hockey instruction on the ice, skill development off the ice and hockey-specific, dry-land training.

This is the second consecutive year the Rob Sumner Hockey Camp has taken place at ShoWare Center.

To attend the Rob Sumner Hockey Camp, visit the T-Birds’ Web site, download the camp flyer and return it to the T-Birds.

T-Birds season tickets are currently on sale. Season tickets can be purchased by calling the T-Birds office at 253-239-7825.
