Standings are as of Friday, April 17
SPSL NORTH STANDINGS: Kentwood 7-0 (8-2); Kentlake 7-1 (9-1); Auburn Riverside 5-1 (7-1); Jefferson 6-3 (8-3); Tahoma 4-5 (6-7); Auburn 3-5 (4-5); Kentridge 2-6 (3-7); Federal Way 1-6 (2-7); Kent-Meridian 0-8 (0-8).
PLAYOFF PICTURE: The top five teams in the division advance to the postseason. At 7-0, Kentwood appears to be a postseason lock at this point as does Kentlake and Auburn Riverside. Auburn Riverside has the most dominant pitcher in the league in Amanda Fitzsimmons and could make a push for the top spot during the season’s second half.
PIVOTAL UPCOMING GAMES: On Tuesday, April 21 at 4 p.m., Kentridge plays host to Kentlake. The Chargers need a win in a big way to remain in the hunt for one of the five playoff slots. Kentlake, however, has been playing as good as anyone, having won six straight. Kentlake held off Kentridge on March 30, 4-3. The game of the week, however, is Kentwood at Auburn Riverside at 4 p.m. on April 21. Due to poor weather, these two teams haven’t faced one another yet this season. If Kentwood can pull out a win, the Conquerors will be in the driver’s seat to win the SPSL North title.
