No resolution was reached during the appeal hearing Friday, Oct. 29 for Kentwood High quarterback Shane Green.
Green, a senior, was suspended for last week’s game against Auburn Riverside along with Thursday night’s 34-10 win over Kentridge for violating the Kent School District’s athletic code. The district was expected to complete its investigation into the incident Friday afternoon.
“Shane is still working through his due process rights. There has been no final decision,” said Dave Lutes, the South Puget Sound League athletic director. “He still remains on his expulsion.”
The fifth-ranked Conquerors play in a state preliminary game on Friday, Nov. 5 at French Field against either Heritage (2-6) or Evergreen of Vancouver (1-7).
Green’s status for the game remains up in the air.
“The bottom line is, we’re trying to expedite the process out of fairness,” said Lutes, who noted that there is not a specific timeline for a resolution.
Sophomore Dane Manio has filled in at quarterback in Green’s absence. In two games, both of which were victories, Manio has completed 9 of 17 passes for 283 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions.
