The Kentwood High girls basketball team moved one step closer Tuesday night to clinching their sixth straight state berth.
Senior Liz Mills delivered big for a second straight game, scoring a team-high 15 points in leading the Conquerors past Evergreen 58-53 in a first-round West Central District matchup at Kentwood High.
With the win, the Conquerors (17-5) move on to play South Kitsap at 6 p.m. on Friday at Stadium High in a second-round WCD game. South Kitsap knocked off Beamer Tuesday night. The Conquerors can clinch a state berth with a win over South Kitsap. In addition, a win would put Kentwood into the district semifinals, where the Conquerors would play the winner of the Mount Rainier/Auburn Riverside game at 4:15 p.m. Saturday afternoon at Auburn High.
