Apparently the third time isn’t always a charm.
Nobody knows that better these days than Kentridge High senior to be Lauren Sewell.
Sewell, one of the state’s elite female golfers, has competed in the US Junior Girls Amateur tournament five straight years. But the sweet-swinging righthander didn’t break through until last week — on her fifth attempt — when Sewell finished fourth at the tournament and thus qualified for the USGA national tournament in New Jersey from July 20-25.
“This always has been a goal since I was 13 years old,” said the Kentridge 17 year old. “It’s pretty cool because I’ve never done it before and I didn’t think my round was going to be good enough.”
