The Seattle Thunderbirds will open the second round of the Western Hockey League playoffs with two games in Kent against the Prince George (British Columbia) Cougars.
The T-Birds host the Cougars at 7:05 p.m. Friday, April 14 and 6:05 p.m. Saturday, April 15 at the accesso ShoWare Center.
Prince George earned a spot in the best-of-seven series with a 5-4 overtime win Sunday, April 9 over the Tri-City Americans. The Cougars won the series in six games to earn their first berth in the second round in 16 years. Seattle advanced last week when it swept the Kelowna Rockets in four games.
Seattle is the top seed in the Western Conference. Prince George is No. 4. If the T-Birds win this round, they will play the winner of the Portland Winterhawks vs. Kamloops Blazers series for the Western Conference title.
Seattle won three of the four regular season meetings, most recently an 8-1 decision Dec. 13 at the ShoWare Center. The two sides split a two-game series in Prince George in late October, with the T-Birds winning both of their home games in the season set.
