Kent Reporter Athletes of the Week: Brianna Sanders, James Mullenix

The Kent Reporter athletes of the week for the week of Sept. 6 is Kentlake High School senior Brianna Sanders, fastpitch and freshman James Mullenix, football.

What do you value in your sport or about your team?

Sanders: Community and commitment

Mullenix: I will do whatever it takes to get better for my team. I will lift weights, train, and communicate with my team.

What have you learned from your sport that you can take with you throughout your life/future?

Sanders: How to not give up and that it’s okay to not be the best.

Mullenix: Teamwork. Working alone has its benefits but working with a team you can trust and depend on will allow you to do the best you can

What do you do when you aren’t motivated and what helps you stay motivated?

Sanders: My teammates.

Mullenix: I’d I push through it because when I start working I tend to try to do the best work I can. I stay motivated by trying to be the best I can be.

Do you have a favorite pre-game meal?

Sanders: Spaghetti/pasta

Mullenix : My favorite pre-game meal is whatever my mom makes for me.

What advice would you give to a teammate that is struggling?

Sanders: Don’t stop, giving up is the worst thing to do.

Mullenix: I would tell them to work on their skills and go 100% on trying to get better. When you are the best version of yourself, good things will happen to you and for you.

From the sidelines: Brianna has a good-positive attitude, is dedicated and a team player. She is a team captain and a strong student. She is supportive and encouraging with her teammates.

From the sidelines: James was so dedicated to summer work outs. His work ethic during practice has been outstanding. He knows and lives out our team’s core values. We are so excited to have him on the team and that he is a part of our Falcon Family!
