Kent Reporter Female Athlete of the Week: LaJaya Brown

Brown covers the opposing teams best player in every game and has shown improvement on offense.

The Kent Reporter’s female athlete of the week for the week of Jan. 13 is Kentridge High School sophomore LaJaya Brown, girls basketball.

Who is the person in your life that has helped you succeed the most?

My Mom. She has supported me through everything throughout my whole career

You’re on a long road trip, you stop at a gas station. You get one drink and one snack. What are you choosing?

Describe your pre-game ritual:

No social media an hour before game time. I listen to my gameday playlist and right before game time I pray.

From the sidelines: LaJaya has been working hard defensively and usually has to cover the other team’s best player- game in and game out. She has really started to show improvement on her jump-shot, which means she has been putting some time and energy. She is also a very positive teammate and someone everyone seems to connect to.
