The Kentridge High School girls swim and dive team edged out Tahoma High School by three points to win the 4A North Puget Sound League title last Saturday.

Sixteen teams competed in the meet at Hazen Pool in Renton in the first year of the resurrected league. Last year, Kentridge competed in the South Puget Sound League.

Kentridge took first in two out of the three relay events – the 200 medley and 200 freestyle. Tahoma dominated the 400 free relay, besting Kentridge by 6.5 seconds.

Top individual finishers for the Chargers included, freshman Grace Gallagher: second place in the 200 free, fourth place 100 butterfly; senior Michaela Childress: third place 200 free, fourth place 100 breast; junior Allison Nelson: sixth place 200 free; Haley Childress: second place 50 free, third place 100 back; junior Julia Seibel: fourth place 50 free, third place 100 free; Haley DePreist: second place 500 free; freshman Jaden Keatts: sixth place 500 free; junior Caitlin Couch, sixth place 100 breast.

Senior Margo Mead placed sixth in the diving competition, which was on Friday at the Auburn Pool.

Of the 33 girls on Kentridge’s team, 25 qualified for the NPSL meet.

Kentridge beat Tahoma earlier this season in a dual meet, helping the Chargers to secure the NPSL Cascade Division title.
