Kent’s Travis Doerge recently defeated Mark Moreno in a 170-pound Destiny MMA welterweight cage bout at the Neal S. Blaisdell Center in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Doerge, “The Praying Mantis,” locked up Moreno in just over a minute into the first round to win by submission.
“He was a very tough opponent and is know as ‘the KO artist,’ so this was a big win for me,” Doerge said. “I was a little surprised how fast it ended, but I had been training hard for this fight.”
Doerge, 41, owns and operates a small gym in Kent called All Fitness.
Doerge has made more than 25 kickboxing fights and 17 MMA bouts, capturing world rankings and several belts along the way in a 20-year career.
“I do plan on fighting again,” Doerge said. “If … a big fight comes up, I will take the fight.
“For the next couple months, I’m going to concentrate on growing my gym. I am teaming up with NW Fitness Magazine to put on a really cool show, which will include MMA fights, bodybuilding, fitness, physique championship, CrossFit competition and Olympic weight lifting.”
