The Kentwood High School cheer program took first place in two division at the state championships on Jan. 30 at the Alaska Airlines Arena on the University of Washington campus.
The black squad won the non-tumbling medium division, and the silver squad placed first in the medium varsity division. The silver squad had the highest overall score of the day.
The Kentwood cheer program is involved in community service events throughout the year, including donating school supplies to Covington Elementary, the Breast Cancer Awareness football game – which raised more $4,800 for the Susan G. Komen Foundation – and a toy drive in December to help needy children in the community.
