The Kentwood girls soccer team beat Tahoma on the Bears field Saturday evening in the teams first meeting since the state tournament last year.
The Conks took the Bears 2-1 in a hard fought match with both teams showing
speed, numerous shots on goal and hard fought defense.
The Conks lead the entire game.
Last year the two teams met in the final game of the season with the state crown on line.
Kentwood won after double overtime and a shootout.
The Conks came into the game with a undefeated record and Tahoma came in with a no loses and a tie against Jefferson.
Scoring for Kentwood at the 35 minute mark was Mykala Benjamin, unassisted and she scored the second goal at 59.
For Tahoma Mackenzie Henke scored at 67 minutes with an assist by Brie Hooks.
The two teams will meet again at French Field for the final game of the season Oct. 27
