The Kentwood High School fastpitch softball team failed to place at the Class 4A state championships in Spokane after entering the tournament as the top seed.
The Conquerors beat 16th-seeded Hanford 6-0 in the first round on May 27. But eighth-seeded Redmond defeated Kentwood 5-1 in the quarterfinals. Redmond went on to beat fourth-seeded Puyallup 4-1 in the semifinals and defeated third-seeded Skyview 7-6 in the championship game.
Kentwood finished the season with North Puget Sound League and district championships.
