When the King County Jaguars return to French Field tonight to host the East County Blackshirts in a minor league football game, they’ll playing for more than just their third victory of the season.
The Jags will be playing for former teammate Malachi DeWalt.
DeWalt and his family recently lost their 6-year-old son in a drowning accident. So when the Blackshirts from Gresham, Ore., come to town for a 7 p.m. kickoff, 20 percent of the gate proceeds will be donated to DeWalt’s family. Additional donations will be taken at the gate, during the game and from sponsors.
The Jaguars said a fund has been set up to help offset burial costs. Donations can be made at any Bank of America branch to the Malachi Dewalt II account.
