Outing Mail powered past the leaders into the stretch and scored a 2-¼-length victory Saturday in the Johnsonville Purse for fillies and mares at rainy Emerald Downs.

Outing Mail powered past the leaders into the stretch and scored a 2-¼-length victory Saturday in the Johnsonville Purse for fillies and mares at rainy Emerald Downs.

With Juan Gutierrez riding his third of four winners on the card, Outing Mail ran six furlongs in 1:13.46 on a sloppy track and paid $7.20, $3.80 and $2.40. The consistent filly has a 2-1-2 record in five starts this season, and an overall mark of 3-3-3 in 12 starts with earnings of $21,128 for owners/breeders Larry and Veralene Hillis. Jose Navarro is the winning trainer.

Lilly’s a Jewel, the 8-to-5 betting ridden by Deborah Hoonan-Trujillo, rallied from last to take second place and paid $3 and $2.60.

Burgundy Hill, Gallyn Mitchell riding, held third and paid $2.80. Tarabunal weakened after engaging Burgundy Hill through fractions of :22.97 and :47.41, and finished fourth.

Debbie’s Ferrari and Slewperslew completed the order of finish; Carina Run and Snowbound Marquita were scratched earlier in the day.

Gutierrez, third in the jockeys’ standings with 36 wins, is the first jockey with two four-win days this season at Emerald Downs. He previously rode four winners May 22.

Leading rider Leslie Mawing and fourth-place Deborah Hoonan-Trujillo rode two winners each on the 10-race card.

NOTES: Untilifindyou ($3.60) became the meet’s first four-time winner with a gate-to-wire score under Hoonan-Trujillo in the fourth race.

Alki Point, Noosa Beach’s full sister, broke her maiden in the fifth race under Gutierrez. Trained by Joe Toye, the 4-year-old filly by Harbor the Gold-Julia Rose ran six furlongs in 1:12.88 on a sloppy track.

Trainer Neil Knapp popped with his second straight first-time starter as Brand Knew ($7) overcame a poor start to prevail in Saturday’s opener…Joe Crispin took off his final two mounts with a sore back. Crispin, second in the standings with 38 wins, won the third race on Guzzlingin ($5.40).

Jockey Matt Hagerty was suspended three racing days (June 25-26, July 1) for causing interference on Our Marshal Cahill in the fifth race Friday.

Macho Dorado ($23.60) gave trainer Vann Belvoir his first career Hollywood Park victory Saturday with a come-from-behind score under Chantal Sutherland in a $52,000 allowance race for California-breds. Belvoir claimed the 3-year-old Macho Uno gelding for $12,500 three races ago at Golden Gate Fields.

Blind Luck ($5.60), co-owned by Mark Dedomenico of Redmond, rallied from last place to win the Grade 1, $250,000 Vanity Handicap at Hollywood Park. The 4-year-old Pollard’s Vision filly has won 11-of-20 starts and nearly $3 million .

Washington-bred Special Holiday ($7) and jockey Russell Baze prevailed in the $50,000 Pink Ribbon for 3-year-old fillies at Stockton. Bud Klokstad is the trainer for owner Billie Klokstad.

Live racing resumes Sunday featuring 4-to-5 morning line favorite Noosa Beach in the $50,000 Budweiser Handicap. KJR Sports Radio 950 AM will broadcast the race live from 5-6 p.m. with Mike Gastineau anchoring coverage.
