BOYS SWIMMING: KL takes fifth at league meet

It wasn’t the result Kentlake wanted, a fifth place finish at the South Puget Sound League boys swim and dive championship on Saturday, but the Falcons didn’t have an answer for the sheer depth of Curtis, Beamer and Kentridge, which finished one-two-three.

The Kentwood High girls basketball team put its balanced offensive attack on display Friday night at the ShoWare Center. Behind a season-high 22 points from Sanda Milovic and solid performances elsewhere, Kentwood made quick work of Kentridge, knocking off the Chargers 76-35 in a South Puget Sound League North Division game.

T-Birds acquire defenseman Baecker in trade

Baecker, 17, from Kelowna, Canada, is presently playing with the Merritt Centennials of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL). Baecker has appeared in 25 games and has one assist and 29 penalty minutes.

The Portland Winterhawks defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds by a score of 6-1 Jan. 23 at the ShoWare Center in Kent. A ShoWare Center record crowd of 6,151 were in attendance for the T-Birds' annual Teddy Bear Toss. The Thunderbirds collected 4,049 stuffed animals that will be distributed to children in times of emergency and crisis by the WARM 106.9 FM Teddy Bear Patrol.
