Roughly 10 days ago, the Kentwood High boys basketball team sat desperately on the fringe of qualifying for the South Puget Sound League North Division playoffs.
Baecker, 17, from Kelowna, Canada, is presently playing with the Merritt Centennials of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL). Baecker has appeared in 25 games and has one assist and 29 penalty minutes.

The Portland Winterhawks defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds by a score of 6-1 Jan. 23 at the ShoWare Center in Kent.
A ShoWare Center record crowd of 6,151 were in attendance for the T-Birds' annual Teddy Bear Toss. The Thunderbirds collected 4,049 stuffed animals that will be distributed to children in times of emergency and crisis by the WARM 106.9 FM Teddy Bear Patrol.
The Seattle Thunderbirds rallied from a 3-1 deficit late in the second period to force overtime, but eventually fell to the Everett Silvertips 4-3 on Sunday evening at Comcast Arena in Everett.
