Accomplishment: Adams went 4-for-4 with three runs batted in, leading Kentwood past Puyallup 8-0 in a West Central District III game. The win clinched a state berth for the Conquerors.

MAX MANTHOU
School: Kentwood.
Grade: Junior.
Sport: Tennis.
Accomplishment: Manthou won his third straight West Central District title on Saturday, upending Kentridge’s Matt Overland 6-0, 6-4. If you could invite anyone in the world to dinner, whom would you invite and what would you serve? Chris Rock, and I would serve Ezell’s fried chicken.
Favorite class: AP Calculus.
Favorite Movie: Die Hard.

What’s on your iPod? “Paradise City” by Guns N’ Roses and “Pour Some Sugar on Me” by Def Leppard.
Also noted: Manthou, one of the top tennis players the South County has ever produced, will be aiming for his third straight state title this weekend.
ZACH SMITH
School: Kentlake.
Grade: Senior.
Sport: Track.
Accomplishment: Smith, one of the state’s most gifted track athletes, won the long jump and the triple jump at this past weekend’s district track meet. The Kentlake senior also took third in the 100 meter dash and will be competing at all three at this weekend’s state meet.
If you could invite anyone in the world to dinner, whom would you invite and what would you serve? I would invite Carl Lewis, Usain Bolt, Tyson Gay, Jonathan Edwards, my family and, of course, my coach. I would serve boneless barbecue wings with french fries and strawberry lemonade.
Favorite class: Sports Medicine. Favorite Movie: Fast and Furious.

What’s on your iPod? “You’re a Jerk” by New Boys.
Also noted: Smith sports a 3.5 grade-point average and will be attending the University of New Mexico next fall on a full-ride track scholarship.
MATT OVERLAND
School: Kentridge.
Grade: Junior.
Sport: Tennis.
Accomplishment: Overland continued to show that he is one of the top tennis players in the South Puget Sound League, taking second at the district tournament and earning a state berth for the second straight year.
If you could invite anyone in the world to dinner, whom would you invite and what would you serve? Any nice girl. We would go to the Yen-Ching in Tacoma.
Favorite class: Art.

What’s on your iPod? InI, Black Moon, Lords of the Underground, Y Society, Pete Rock and C.L. Smooth, Shadez of Brooklyn. Also noted: Overland’s accomplishments aren’t only on the tennis court as he’s also a gifted artist and writes poems.
PAUL YI and VINEETH OMKAROM
School: Kentridge.
Grade: Both are juniors.
Sport: Tennis.
Accomplishment: One year after having to win a pair of loser-out boys doubles matches just to make state, the two Charger juniors will go this time as district champions. The Kentridge combo took care of Bellarmine Prep seniors Connor Gavin and Andrew Herron on Saturday in the finals, 6-3, 6-1.
