Seattle Thunderbirds announce 2011-12 regular season schedule | Western Hockey League

The Seattle Thunderbirds will open the 2011-12 season at home Sept. 24 against the Portland Winterhawks at the ShoWare Center in Kent.

The Seattle Thunderbirds on Wednesday released their 2011-12 season schedule. Seattle opens at home Sept. 24 against Portland at the ShoWare Center in Kent.

The Seattle Thunderbirds will open the 2011-12 season at home Sept. 24 against the Portland Winterhawks at the ShoWare Center in Kent.

Seattle announced its regular season schedule Wednesday.

The T-Birds have six games against the Winterhawks at home, with all the games being played on a Saturday. There are 14 games at home on a Saturday, eight games at home on a Friday and five games at home on a Sunday.

Seattle’s other I-5 rival, the Everett Silvertips, will come to ShoWare Center five times. There will be one Tuesday game, two Saturday games and two Sunday games.

The newest city in the Western Hockey League, Victoria, will make their first appearance at ShoWare Center on Oct. 8. The T-Birds will play in Victoria in back-to-back games against the Royals Oct. 28-29.

The first of the popular 2-For-Tuesday games will be on Oct. 18, against the Brandon Wheat Kings at 7:05 p.m. at ShoWare Center. There will be 2-for-1 ticket specials and $2 concession specials at the game.

The team travels to the Central Division for a six-game road trip from Nov. 4-12. Seattle plays the Red Deer Rebels, Edmonton Oil Kings, Medicine Hat Tigers, Lethbridge Hurricanes, Calgary Hitmen and Kootenay Ice on the road trip.

The first Pub Night game will be Friday, Nov. 18, when the T-Birds face the Tri-City Americans. Fans cans get 10 tickets, 10 beers and 10 t-shirts for $200 to all Pub Night games.

The T-Birds and Everett Silvertips will play a home-and-home series on Tuesday, Dec. 27, and Wednesday, Dec. 28.

The T-Birds will travel to Portland to take on the Winterhawks in the annual New Year’s Eve game on Dec. 31.
