Marcel Noebels had two goals and an assist and Kyle Verdino had three assists to help lead the Seattle Thunderbirds to a 3-2 victory over the Everett Silvertips at Comcast Arena in Everett.
The T-Birds and Silvertips renew acquaintances Sunday night at 5:05pm at ShoWare Center.
Verdino now has a five-game point streak with a goal and six assists in the last five games. Noebels leads the T-Birds with six goals this season.
Everett (2-7-0-2) took a 1-0 lead at 4:31 of the first period on a goal from Jari Erricson. Evan Morden and Josh Winquist were credited with the assists.
The Silvertips outshot the T-Birds 10-6 in the first period.
Seattle (4-4-0-0) tied the game 1-1 early in the second period on a power-play goal by Noebels. Verdino sent the puck to Dave Sutter who then found Noebels in the right circle. Noebels took a hard snap shot and beat Everett goalie Kent Simpson over the left shoulder for his fifth goal of the year. Verdino extended his point streak to a season high five games with the assist.
The Silvertips took a 2-1 lead at 6:28 of the second on an unassisted goal by Josh Birkholz.
Noebels tied the game 2-2 at 12:36 of the second on a goal very similar to his first goal. Noebels beat Simpson from the right circle on the power play with a hard snap shot. Sutter and Verdino had the assists on the goal for their second points of the game.
Both teams had nine shots on goal in the second period. The Silvertips led 19-15 in total shots after two periods.
The T-Bird took the lead 3-2 at 4:17 of the third period. Verdino put a long shot on goal that rebounded high into the slot. Gallimore was charging the net on Verdino’s shot, got the rebound and snapped it past Simpson for his third goal of the year. Noebels had the second assist on the T-Birds go-ahead goal.
Seattle outshot Everett 13-10 in the game. Everett finished with a 29-28 advantage in shots to end the game.
Seattle goalie Calvin Pickard stopped 27 of 29 shots to improve his record to 4-3-0-0.
Simpson made 25 saves on 28 shots and his record is now 2-6-0-1.
T-Birds single game tickets for the 2011-12 season are available online at the T-Birds website and at the ShoWare Center box office. The ShoWare Center Box Office is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday game days at 10 a.m. and Sunday game days at noon.
