The Seattle Thunderbirds had their first offseason training camp open to the public Saturday, for the upcoming season.
A small crowd of fans came to the Kent ShoWare Center to see their favorite players take to the ice. Fans of all ages were there: everyone from youngsters just about to start their own hockey careers to older season-ticket holders wanting a sneak peak at the ‘Birds before the season officially gets under way.
The Thunderbirds will announce their season schedule in early August, but it is known that opening night for the Western Hockey League team will be Sept. 18 against the Everett Silvertips. That game starts 7:35 p.m. at the ShoWare Center.
For more information about the team, and to purchase tickets, go to www.seattlethunderbirds.com. Tickets and ticket packages also can be purchased by calling the Thunderbirds management office at 253-239-7825.
