The next stop for Cam Weaver’s professional soccer career is Texas.
The former Kentwood High and Seattle University star, playing in his inaugural Major League Soccer season with the San Jose Earthquakes, was traded to the Houston Dynamo on Tuesday. Weaver, a 6-foot-4 striker who was the United Soccer Leagues First Division Rookie of the Year with the Seattle Sounders in 2006 when the club played at that level, had one goal and two assists for the Earthquakes.
Weaver goes from a team struggling in last place in the Western Conference of MLS to a Houston squad that has climbed into second in the West. The Dynamo will be in Seattle to face the Sounders on Saturday, July 11, at Qwest Field.
After starring with the USL Sounders in 2006, Weaver played two seasons with FK Haugesund in the Norwegian First Division.
