Nick Perera scored four goals with two assists and Kraig Chiles added a hat trick as the San Diego Sockers routed Seattle Impact FC 14-4 in a Major Arena Soccer League match at the ShoWare Center on Saturday.
It was the season debut for the expansion Impact.
The Sockers (2-0) are 14-time indoor champions.
Eduardo Velez had two goals and two assists as the Sockers pot together runs of six and five consecutive goals.
Corey Maret, Jamael Cox, Bobby Hurwitz and Mark Cox tallied for the Impact, who started Peter Sliwa in goal (0-1).
Seattle managed to level the score at 1-1 midway through the first quarter. San Diego took control from there, with Perera scoring his second goal of the quarter on a power play.
San Diego led 4-2 after 15 minutes.
Jesus Molina (1-0), acquired in an offseason trade with the Las Vegas Legends, started in goal and picked up the win in his debut.
The Impact return to action Friday at the Turlock Express. Kickoff is 7:35 p.m. They take on Sacramento at 7:05 p.m. Saturday.
