Soul Patch took the lead early and held on late for a four-length victory Friday in the featured Scarff Ford Purse for older fillies and mares at Emerald Downs.

With regular rider Joe Crispin aboard, Soul Patch recorded her third win of the meeting while running one-mile in 1:37.99 on a fast track, and paid $7, $4 and $3. Tim McCanna—eight days from his official enshrinement into the Washington Racing Hall of Fame—is the trainer for owner Hern/LePley Racing.

Who’s Calling Now, Gallyn Mitchell riding, challenged the winner into the lane before weakening slightly in the final furlong. Who’s Calling Now easily held second place and paid $7 and $3.40.

Sun City led briefly early before yielding command to Soul Patch, then gave way gradually while finishing third. Ridden by Pedro Terrero, Sun City paid $3.20 for show, and has now finished first, second or third in 21-of-29 starts at Emerald Downs.

Atta Lora, the 8-to-5 betting favorite, finished fourth, followed by Nina Win and Eyes On My Heart.

A 4-year-old Kentucky-bred filly by Perfect Soul, Soul Patch is 3-2-0 in six starts since being re-claimed by McCanna on April 16. Her lifetime record is 7-5-4 in 21 starts with earnings of $39,829.

NOTES: Deborah Hoonan-Trujillo sustained a small fracture in her skull after being unseated from her ride aboard Miss Jo Lynn in Thursday’s final race at Emerald Downs, according to her agent Keith Drebin. Drebin said Hoonan-Trujillo was released from Harborview Medical Center earlier Friday and was resting at her father’s home. The Bonney Lake native will be off her mounts at least through Sunday, and is scheduled to visit her doctor early next week .

Jockey Leonel Camacho-Flores maintained his hot hand with a riding double on White River ($4) in the second race and Really Swiss ($9.80) in the nightcap. That makes six wins in four days and 20 wins at the meet for Camacho-Flores, who rode only 11 winners all last season as an apprentice…Pedro Terrero and Joe Crispin also rose two winners apiece on the eight-race program.

Trainer Larry Ramnarine broke into the win column as Cotillion Belle ($5.40) scored her maiden win by seven lengths in the fourth race.

Leslie Mawing rode Cotillion Belle and leads Juan Gutierrez 83-72 in the Thoroughbred rider standings…The stewards fined jockey Jorge Rosales $100 for failure to maintain a straight course in the stretch run of Thursday’s first race…Fans can now access free Emerald Downs race replays by logging onto emeralddowns.com…Live racing continues Saturday with an eight-race program at 2 p.m.
