Stars’ Cox earns MASL Team of the Week honors

Tacoma Stars midfielder Jamael Cox was named to the Major Arena Soccer League Team of the Week for week eight, the league announced Wednesday.

Cox totaled two goals and one assist over a pair of road games against the Missouri Comets and St. Louis Ambush last weekend, including the game-winning goal in the final minutes of overtime against the Ambush.

Cox’s 10 points this season (six goals, four assists) are ranked second most on the Stars, behind only forward Derek Johnson (11).

Joining Cox on the MASL Team of the Week are Dallas Sidekicks goalkeeper Juan Gamboa, Baltimore Blast defender Adriano Dos Santos, Missouri Comets defender Robert Palmer, St. Louis Ambush midfielder Gordy Gurson, and Dallas Sidekicks forward Arthur Ivo.

Stars goalkeeper Danny Waltman earned honorable mention after tallying 43 saves on 60 shots last weekend – his 4.70 goals against average mark this season is ranked fourth best in the MASL.
