Tacoma Stars forward Alex Megson has been selected to the Major Arena Soccer League Team of the Week for week eight, the league announced on Tuesday.

Megson logged four points on two assists and two goals – including the game-winner – in the Stars 8-7 victory over the San Diego Sockers on Sunday evening. His power play goal lifted Tacoma into a tie with the Sockers for first place in the MASL Pacific Division with just over half of the season remaining to be played.

The Tacoma, Washington native has logged 10 points through nine matches this season. His eight goals are second most on the team, while his two power play goals are tops in Tacoma.

Megson’s father, Neil, played for the Major Indoor Soccer League iteration of the Tacoma Stars from 1983-1992.

Joining Megson on the week eight MASL Team of the Week are Cedar Rapids goalkeeper Brett Petricek, St. Louis defender Richard Schmermund, Chicago defender Edwin Rojas, Baja midfielder Christian Gutierrez and Baltimore forward Tony Donatelli.

Megson and the Stars are on break for the holidays, but will return to action against Atletico Baja on Saturday, Jan. 7 at the ShoWare Center in Kent, Washington. First kick is scheduled for 6:05 p.m.
