Seattle Thunderbirds general manager Russ Farwell this week announced the team has acquired defenseman Ryan Aasman from the Prince Albert Raiders in exchange for right wing Jonathan Parker and a fifth round selection in the 2010 Bantam Draft.
Aasman, at 5’11 and 180 pounds, has appeared in 39 games this season with the Raiders and has one goal and three assists with 10 penalty minutes. Aasman, from Medicine Hat, Alberta, was the eighth overall selection in the 2007 Bantam Draft.
“We are excited to add Ryan to our existing group of young players. He has the potential to be an exciting player and add some offense from the backend and this is a rare opportunity to add a player at this age with this potential,” said Farwell. “He is a player that will fun to watch develop over the next few years.”
Parker, in his second season with the T-Birds, has played in 40 games this season and has 26 points on 13 goals and 13 assists.
The T-Birds next hit the ice on Friday, January 8, when they take on the Everett Silvertips at 7:35 p.m. at ShoWare Center. They face the Prince George Cougars on Saturday, January 9, at 7:05 p.m. at ShoWare Center.
