The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 2-1 in overtime Jan. 31 at the ShoWare Center.
Kelowna (25-25-2-2) opened the scoring at 4:04 of the first period on Shane McColgan’s 21st goal of the season. Brandon McMillan and Tyson Barrie were credited with assists.
Seattle (14-29-5-4) tied the game at 13:34 of the first on Luke Lockhart’s 4th goal of the season. Lockhart controlled the puck behind the Kelowna net and was able to put a wrap-around shot past Kelowna goalie Mark Guggenberger.
After one period, Kelowna led in shots, 14-13.
During a scoreless second period, the Rockets outshot the T-Birds 11-8.
Dallas Jackson scored a shorthanded-goal to win the game at 4:06 of overtime. McMillan registered the only assist.
Seattle goalie Calvin Pickard (12-24-5-4) made 36 saves on 38 shots.
