The Tahoma Bears are for real between the baseball lines, and the team proved it for the 12th time this season with a 11-4 win over Kentlake Saturday on the Falcon’s field.
Despite the rain that has made playing baseball a lottery at best this season, the Bears have found a way to string together victories and are now leading the South Puget Sound League, 4A North with a 12-1 division record. Kentridge is next at 8-3.
Tahoma coach Russ Hayden said he thought at the beginning of the season he had a solid pitching staff, it was a matter of the team putting all the elements of the game together.
Tayler Saucedo was dominating Saturday on the hill picking up the win for the Bears.
At the plate Reed Johnson went 2-1 with a home run and two RBIs. Brian Olson also hit one out going 3-2 with three RBIs.
Hayden said the Bears have had few chances to practice on the field because of the rain, but the team has still found the winning formula.
The Falcons hung in for seven innings. Kentlake is a young team and continued to play solid through the innings.
Brian Hartnett picked up the loss for Kentlake.
Ryan Archibald hit a double and drove in two RBIs.
Tahoma’s overall record is 14-1.
Kentlake is 7-6 in division play and 9-7 overall.
