Tickets are on sale for the third annual ShoWare College Classic, featuring the Seattle University Redhawks against the Norfolk State Spartans on Thursday, Dec. 19, starting at 7 p.m. at the ShoWare Center.
Seattle U, under fifth-year head coach Cameron Dollar, has jumped out to a 7-3 start so far in the 2013-14 season, the best start as a Division I program since the 1971-72 campaign.
The Redhawks are led by South Sound residents Clarence Trent (Tacoma), a senior averaging 9.9 points and 5.7 rebounds per game, and redshirt junior Isiah Umipig (Federal Way), just named Player of the Week by both the WAC and CollegeInsider.com after averaging 20.7 points per game during the team’s current three-game winning streak.
The Norfolk State Spartans are coming off back-to-back postseason appearances, defeating Missouri in the second round of the 2012 NCAA Tournament and earning a berth in the 2013 NIT based on its regular season championship in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC).
Led by interim coach Robert Jones, the Spartans have posted an 8-3 record so far this season, including two conference victories. Norfolk State is led by Malcolm Hawkins at 18.0 points per game and Pendarvis Williams at 16.8 points and 3.4 assists per contest.
Tickets start at $10 for general admission seats, $17 for reserved center court seats, and $25 for baseline courtside seats. For $30 per person, fans will receive a reserved club seat as well as access to a pregame Italian buffet and no-host bar. Parking is free at the ShoWare Center, and nearby Kent Station is a destination for families to take care of holiday shopping before the game.
